Namrata Barbhaiya Awarded 2011 PSU CNJ Chapter Scholarship
Namrata Barbhaiya was the recipient of the chapter's Fall 2011 scholarship. Barbhaiya, a Robbinsville resident, intends to major in architecture.
"I am extremely thankful for the Penn State Alumni's generous award because architecture can be very expensive at times, with all the supplies and computer programs required, but they have relieved my financial burden with this scholarship," she said.
There were 44 applicants for this year's scholarship, a slight increase from 2010, which had 40 applicants.
"At first, I was really shocked to receive this scholarship as I thought many people would have applied to it, but it came as a pleasant surprise," said Barbhaiya. "I felt really motivated to do well in college when I received the congratulatory letter because my work had finally been reviewed and appreciated."
Along with architecture, Barbhaiya said she is looking forward to joining a dance team. She added that she hopes attending Penn State will bring her different opportunities to travel abroad.
"I am excited for the years to come," she said.
